Dean is an exchange student from the United States of America, he knows Scarlett as they used to attend the same school, and in fact he has had a crush on her for four years, ever since he saw her dressed as an angel at a School Christmas play. He followed Scarlett to Japan hoping to woo her.

Scarlett doesn't think much of him at first, brushing him off saying he is nothing more than a smooth talker, she doesn't think is confessions of love for her are sincere - but after she gets into a heated argument with him she see she is wrong and he is sincere, and she realises she loves him. However he leaves to go back to the States before she can confess this and she, and Momoko, Yuri & Hinagiku who tag along go to the Airport to try and tell him before he leaves.

It is only through the power of the Saint Somethings Four that teleport her to him that she catches him in time.
